Apple: No Jobs keynote at Macworld '09
In a move likely to spark renewed questions about CEO Steve Jobs' health, Apple Inc. late Tuesday said that the keynote speech at next month's Macworld Conference and Expo will be delivered by Philip Schiller, the company's senior product marketing executive.
Apple also announced that it will no longer exhibit at the San Francisco event, which runs Jan. 5-9, after next month's show.
"I'm surprised," said Ezra Gottheil, an analyst with Technology Business Research Inc., of the announcement that Schiller would handle the keynote, something Jobs has become famous for giving. "But it's part of the continuity that they attempted to establish when they rolled out the MacBooks, when Jobs didn't do a solo."
During the October MacBook event, Jobs shared the stage with other senior executives, including Tim Cook, the company's chief operating officer. Over the years, Jobs has used his time on stage to unveil numerous new products, including the company's MacBook Air laptop earlier this year, and the first iPhone in January 2007.
"Clearly, Apple wants to showcase their top management, but this is an interesting time to do it, when the stock is under pressure," Gottheil said. "But I think they want to communicate that the company is a good deal more than Jobs, and that its ongoing health and prosperity is not connected to him."
Although Apple's shares were up 68 cents, or 0.7%, Tuesday to close at US$95.43, they dropped $2.48, or 2.6%, to $93 in early after-hour trading.
Jobs' health has been a matter of concern for some Wall Street analysts, and a topic of discussion among Apple users and investors for months. The speculation started in June, when Jobs appeared gaunt at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference, and was fueled by talk that he might again be seriously ill. In 2004, Jobs announced that he had had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in his pancreas.
Last July, Jobs told The New York Times that he was cancer-free, and joked about the concerns during the MacBook roll-out. Between the two, however, a false report that Jobs had suffered a massive heart attack shoved Apple's stock down by 11% in early October, demonstrating Wall Street's worries about Jobs' and how his absence might impact the company.
Gottheil said he anticipated that Jobs would make some kind of appearance at Macworld, if only to calm any nervous investors. "He looked fine [in October]," said Gottheil. "and I can't imagine him retiring." Schiller's keynote address will be the last at Macworld by Apple, the company said in a statement today.
Apple is "reaching more people in more ways than ever before, so like many companies, trade shows have become a very minor part of how Apple reaches its customers," the company said, then pointed to traffic in its retail stores -- as well as visits to its Web site -- as other ways in which it can reach customers. "Apple has been steadily scaling back on trade shows in recent years, including NAB, Macworld New York, Macworld Tokyo and Apple Expo in Paris," the company added.
It was not immediately clear what effect Apple's decision would have on the future of Macworld. A similar move by the company several years ago effectively ended an east coast version of the expo that used to be held in Boston.
Macworld has been held annually in San Francisco since 1985, and Apple has exhibited each year at the trade show. Next year's show comes just ahead of the 25th anniversary of the introduction of the first Mac in 1984.
Apple is not the only one lowering its Macworld profile. Adobe Systems Inc. said earlier this month that it had decided not to exhibit at the Expo, although it will still have a presence at the event.
"It makes sense for Apple to reduce its association with the Expo," said Gottheil. "Saves some money, but really, the show is only about the Mac. That's just one of their products. This gives them more control over when they present. Or maybe they're tired of coming with a show-stopper every year."
IDG World Expo, an exhibition management firm that puts on the show, is a part of International Data Group (IDG) -- the parent company of Computerworld . IDG World Expo officials did not return a phone call Tuesday seeking comment about Apple's announcement.

Windows Live Converts Into New Social Networking Hub
Microsoft Corp is making plans to turn its Windows Live online services into a social networking hub. The new social network will merge other existing Microsoft applications which include Hotmail, Live Messenger, Spaces and photos.
The new migrated social networking platform is Microsoft's latest strategy to compete with other online community sites such as MySpace and News Corp's MySpace. The new Windows Live will feature a main profile page for users to add friends and identify them with photos.
Windows Live will also include more than 50 outside Web services including Yahoo Inc's Flickr photo site. Microsoft hopes to simplify new user accounts by using one login for e-mail and instant messaging.

YouTube’ta Büyük Değişim?
Geçen sene video sayfalarını değiştiren site, bu kez kanal sayfalarında değişiklik yapmayı düşünüyor.
Video sayfalarını temel alan yeni tasarım, Google'ın sosyal ağı Google+'tan da ilham alıyor. Dolayısıyla yeni tasarımda beyaz renklerdaha çok öne çıkıyor. Şimdiye kadar sitede dolaşmamızı sağlayan siyahçubuklar ise tamamen ortadan kaldırılmış.
Bunun yanında kanallarda bir duvar kağıdı kullanmak da şu an mümkün değil. Yeni tasarımdaki giriş resminin TV'lerdahil tüm cihazlarda düzgün görünebilmesi için 2.120 x 1.192 pikselölçülerinde olması gerekiyor. Bu resim üzerinde Facebook, Twitter vediğer yeni işlevler görüntüleniyor.

Google is working for bringing more content to turkey
.Richard Alec Turner, Director of Android EMEA Partnerships, is one of the Google executives in İstanbul for ”Think with Google” event. Turner talked about the process up to Jelly Bean, the new features which has come with Jelly Bean and gave some numbers about Android.
As Richard Turner stated once again, there are approximately 650.000 apps on Google Play Store. The number of Android devices are above 800 and Google cooperates with more than 300 mobile carriers in more than 50 countries. It is recently announced that the total number of Android app downloads has past 25 billion.
Google had cooperated with an establishment called Open Handset Alliance for the launch of Android. The alliance’s main purpose was to provide open, free and complete operating system to users. Until Gingerbread, Android versions are designed for mobile handsets. With Honeycomb, tablets are started to be taken into account and with Ice Cream Sandwich a single platform is established for every device.
Turner labelled Nexus 7 as a reference device for Android Jelly Bean. He stated that users’ feedbacks and complaints are considered during the development of Android Jelly Bean and these inconveniences are largely fixed. Richard Turner underlined features such as notification system, home screen widgets, enhancement of sharing options from camera and Google Now which provides the option of voice dialing, makes recommendations according to users’ habits.
Turner also talked about the improvement of Google Play Store. He stated that they want to improve the service and increase the number of options and contents but he did not give a timeline for improvments. Turner stated that the company keeps working for providing navigation and live traffic feed services in Turkey and these services are going to become available as soon as possible.
Android has been recently criticized by different researchers about security. Turner spoke about the security issue too and said that the company works hard to create a secure ecosystem, just like the company did on searching. Turner had also a few words about the chances of Google and Android in enterprise market. According to Turner, small and medium enterprises are important opportunities for Google and Android to have a larger share on enterprise market. Turner also spoke about the one of the recent hot issues: Patents. He repeated the company’s official view about the patent cases and said ”Google prefers to focus on innovation, not litigation”. Turner said Google has big support on FATİH Project which aims to deliver tablets to every student in Turkey. According to Turner, the project reflects Turkey’s potential for electronic devices.*

Chrome Ses Tanıma
Google’ın masaüstü internet tarayıcısı Chrome’un sık güncelleme döngüsünde bir sonraki durak Chrome 25 oldu. Bu yeni sürümle birlikte Web Speech API desteği de sunulmaya başlandı. Bu, söz konusu API desteğinden yararlanan herhangi bir web uygulamasının sesli komutlarla yönetilebileceği, web siteleri üzerinde dikte özelliğinin kullanılabileceği anlamına geliyor.

*Facebook’un uzun zamandır kötü niyetli kişi ve yazılımlarla başının belada olduğunu ve konuyla ilgili sık sık sıkıntı yaşadığını biliyorduk . Bu sıkıntıları çeken teknolojinin konuşulan şirketlerinin sayısı arttı. İşte diğer sıkıntı çeken teknoloji devleri hangileri?
Microsoft yakın zaman önce hacker saldırısına uğradıklarını yaptığı bir açıklamada kullanıcılarına duyurdu. Yapılan açıklamada saldırını küçük çaplı olduğu vurgulandı. Kişisel bilgilerin zarar görmediğini söyleyen Microsoft, zararlı yazılımın yüklendiği bilgiayarlardan içeri sızıldığı bildirildi. Aynı sıkıntının Apple’dan gelen açıklama ile sadece Micrsoft’un başında olmadığı ortaya çıktı. Java’dan kaynaklı bir açıktan yararlanarak Mac OS sistemine sızan hackerlar Apple’ı sıkıntıya soktu. Apple Java ile ilgili hemen bir güncelleme yayınlasada uzmanlar kişisel bilgilerin çalınmış olabileceği ihtimalinin üzerinde duruyor. Apple’dan yapılan açıklamada herhangi bir bilginin çalınmadığı söyleniyor.
Yine Facebook 2013 yılında hackerlardan en çok sıkıntı çeken şirketlerden biri. Bildiğiniz gibi bu ay içinde de Facebook kullanıcıları çok sıkıntı çekti. Mesaj sistemleri çöktü çoğu zaman Facebook ulaşılamaz hale geldi. Uygulamalarda hatalar artmaya başladı. Sonradfan yapılan açıklamada bunun hacker saldırısı sonucu olduğunu öğrendik. Yine saldırının amacı ise birkaç Facebook çalışanının iş amaçlı kullandıkları bilgisayarlarına kötü amaçlı yazılım indirmeleri sonucu gerçekleştirildiği biliniyor.
Gelen haberlere göre Facebook ve Apple’a saldırıan grup aynı ve grup saldırıları çinden gerçekleştiriyor. Aynı zamanda saldırıların ortak yönleri zararlı yazılımların bilgisayarlara indirilmesi. Yazılım devleri çalışanlarınınbu hataları yapması elbette bizi düşündürüyor. Bunun yanında sistemlerin korunmaması da gerçekten gülünç.*
Akıllı Telefonlar İçin Photoshop
Adobe’nin geniş bir özellik listesine sahip görsel editörü Photoshop Touch bir yıldır iPad’e ve Android işletim sistemli tabletlere indirilebiliyordu. Adobe uygulamanın kapsamını biraz daha genişletti ve iPhone ile Android işletim sistemli akıllı telefonları da işin içine dahil etti. Tablet uygulamalarındaki deneyimi akıllı telefonlara taşıyan iPhone ve Android uygulamaları sayesinde akıllı telefonlar üstünden 12 megapiksele kadar çok katmanlı dosyalarla çalışmak mümkün olacak. savaş zamanlarında kullanılmak üzere hazırlanacak olan biyometrik tarama sistemi cep telefonlarına entegre edilip süpheli görülen kişiler üzerinde kullanılacak. Şüphelinin yüzünü, gözünü ve belirli noktalarını tarayarak o kişi hakkında bilgi veren sistem askeri amaçla kullanılmak üzere bu yeni özelliği akıllı telefonlara dahil etmeye hazırlanıyor. Yakın gelecekte kullanılması planlanan sistemde kişinin cep telefonundan dahi bilgi edinilebilecek.
